An integrated e-Commerce solution for CucinaBarilla

CucinaBarilla and Arvato announce partnership

Milan, 16th November 2015

In its capacity as one of the European leaders in the field of e-commerce & retail logistics services, Arvato SCM Solutions will manage the new CucinaBarilla project: an end-to-end e-commerce solution. The food company, together with Whirlpool, entrusts the online distribution of its innovative product to Arvato.

Since 1877 Barilla has grown and established itself throughout the world as a leader in the production and sale of Italian pasta, sauces and ready meals. In the last years new trends for lifestyle products like those in the coffee industry have influenced the requirements as well in the food segment so the company has opted to respond to its consumers’ new habits.

An innovative way of cooking designed by Barilla and Whirlpool, brings quality and technology to the table, saving precious time. CucinaBarilla is a system consisting of a ‘kit’, a selection of Barilla products, paired with a technologically advanced oven, developed by Whirlpool. By reading an RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) code found on the kits packaging, the oven sets the cooking times and modes. No more work is needed than putting the product into the oven and wait a little while.

The oven has been available in high street electronic stores since July, and now as well online. The CucinaBarilla kits are sold exclusively on the website.

The new website is developed on Magento by an Arvato in-house frontend development team. In addition, the full-service e-commerce provider will take care of payment and customer services, logistics and transport management for the Italian brand.

The logistics processes cover from storing the raw materials to creating the finished product in the Arvato warehouse situated in Calcinate, Bergamo. A pick by light system along with highly technological solutions make the project unique for its kind.
